after feedback from my fellow peers this is the my finale product. i was told my rough design was too bland and obviouse so i have decided to use more abstract images, creating a more retro look fitting along side my video
This is the my music video. It features my two friends both called Dan. The video starts with my frend Dan A getting out of bed and going into the bathroom to get ready to go to work prior an argument the night before because he is been promoted and his freind fired for it.He then wanders around the streets and is haunted by visions of his close friend. He then realizes that his friendship means more to him than the contents of his wallet and sprints back home with the lyrics keep on running cleverly playing in the background.
Feedback: After vary varied feedback on my earlier videos i decided that to fit into a genre that has no pacific similarities in their music videos i had to think a little outised the box. Instead of going for the popular fast paced, headbanging videos i chose mine to follow a story and explore deeper issues rather than fit into the youth media norm. i chose to make the film black and white to show a deeper metaphorical meaning that i am trying to show throughout.
This is my finished poster for my music video. My song farewell to the fairground is off the album somewhere to hide.I have incorperated an image that relates to the album title somewhere to hide. an image that came into my mind was literally somewhere to hide, a few images flew into my mind for example a child hiding under the stairs. with half an hour on fireworks i created an image that i hope sums up the theme and feeling of my song.
This is the emotional and deep video from a band called framing hanley. The video touches on such themes as corruption and guilt, The main focus of the video highlights the preist's "Sinfull" lifestyle. He is seen to break down while giving a service, the people at the service are seen to give money to the church; this is ironic as this represents their misplaced trust and the corruption of the preist. A church is seen to be a holy place of complete serenity and good nature, this is allso how the preist is seen thus highlighting his sinfull vulgar ways and their innocence. This is a classic representation of how no one is truly perfect, even though society would deem the preist boardering on surreal perfection he is shown to be just as human, just as frail and faulty as every other living thing.
This is the video for voodoo people by The prodigy. A clue of the song and videos deeper meaning are shown in the title "Voodoo People". This is shown through the actions of the people in the video, they are blind folded and shown to be controlled by financial desire. In their lust for money they risk everything to gain it, for example running headfirst into lamp'posts and even oncoming traffic. This could have a metaphorical meaning which is that people are contolled effortlesly by greed and their dark desire's, and who ever holds this (for example money) holds power.
Personally I believe this song to be about gambling and the crisis a gambling addict faces."Scratch card glory or waist low pleasure?" may mean trying to win big in the bookies or other place of financial legalised gambling and such or going home to your girlfriend. "Black eyes nose bleeds, don’t look back now" basically means the debt man coming to take his property because he is so far in debt and probably taking a few punches before he leaves.
"My white abode, do you remember? My white abode" means he has probably lost his house in his gambling problem. "But it’s such a thrill just to find out…" means it is such a thrill for him to see if he wins or not, this further proves his gambling problem."Sorry you’re not a winner with the air so cold and a mind so bitter What have you got to lose but false intentions and a life so pretentious? I sweat, I ache." This is pretty much self explanatory he has lost his money through gambling and feels dreadful he is also questioning the morals of society and his outlook on life. At the end of the song the lyrics "what what what" means he has lost again and is questioning it...this shows yet again a gambling problem: gambling addicts never think they can lose.
And "try again/insert your coin" is ironically just like the poker machines or slot machines and also could metaphorically be talking about his life. Notice it doesn't say game over? this is directed at his psyche and his gambling problem...he feels the need to continue squandering his cash regardles.
This is the video to "Sorry Your'e Not A Winner" the video is filmed in a small room full of fans, this is to show that the band are not too big to be shown with their fans face to face. This in turn makes the band seem more friendly and down to earth even though their music is very unique and vibrant. The use of strobe lights and the the extras dancing and moshing represents the band's style very well.
Lyrics:
Scratch card glory or waist low pleasure? Black eyes nose bleeds don’t look back now My white abode do you remember? My white abode do you remember? But it’s such a thrill to find out...
Sorry you’re not a winner With the air so cold and a mind so bitter What have you got to lose But false intentions and a life so pretentious?
Scratch card glory or waist low pleasure? Black eyes nose bleeds don’t look back now My white abode do you remember? My white abode do you remember? But it’s such a thrill to find out...
Sorry you’re not a winner With the air so cold and a mind so bitter What have you got to lose But false intentions and a life so pretentious?
Scratch card glory or waist low pleasure? Black eyes nose bleeds don’t look back now My white abode do you remember? I sweat I ache...
Sorry you’re not a winner With the air so cold and a mind so bitter What have you got to lose But false intentions and a life so pretentious?
What?-What?-What? Rawwwr Please try again Insert your coin Please try again Insert your coin...
Bullet for my valentine are a heavy metal band from wales in the UK
This is the video for "Waking The Demon" the video's story follows a teenage boy being bullied in highschool. This yet again appeals to BFMV's teenage audience, as people are more lickely to take an interest in something they can relate to. Stereo typically the bullies are dressed in the latest clothes, are what you could consider good looking and are physically imposing to look at. This contrasts with the tormented boy as he is rather small in stature, and dresses alternatively to the bullyies. Ironically the boy turns out to be a werewolf. This could metaphorically suggests that through the boys pain ,anger and hatred he has overcome their actions and words, gaining power and superiority. This is ironic as it is everything the bullies tried to take away from him, his confidence, his pride and power.
The variouse posters from BFMV consist of dark contrasting colours and cartoons of dark yet stylish nature. This further represents their style of music as it focuses heavily on emotional pain experienced by young individuals. These emotions could be anything from anger to frustration even sadness and this is heavily refelected in the image and colours they use, for example guns, blood etcetera.

My video will show a young man leaving home and pursuing a career simply for financial purposes. All throughout the video he will be haunted with flashbacks of his childhood and people that he misses. My video will use alot of the conventional shots for example mid close ups, FPV shot etcetera. The main character of my video will be a friend of mine called Daniel, in the video he will be wearing a business type suite. The song i have chose is by a band calles white lies and is called farewell to the fairground, In one part of the song it sings "Keep on running keep keep on running theres no place like home theres no place like home" at this point Dan will rip his tie off and start to run at speed back to his family and town. The very end shot will be an over the shoulder view of Dan at the front door of his house, smiling at the person in front.
Madina lake are an alternative rock band from chicago illinois USA
This is the album "From them. through us. to you"
The basic story of the video is a young couple that have fell upon hard times and sadly broken up. The particular theme shown throughout the video is life moving on and the old being forgotten. The young man is shown to be replaced and erased form this women's life by images such as him fading out of photos and being replaced by another man. This also happens at a wedding scene. If you watch the video yourself you will see that when the couple are standing in front of a tree their initials fade as they move on and time passes.
The video shows the darkness inside this man, and how he hates it. he feels held back and unnapreciated, while he is lying on the bed a ghost like form of himself is holding him down which is symbolic of a part of his personality, himself that hold him back. While he is walking down the street he deliberately bangs into to people. this could be for a number of reason. One could be that he just wants to be noticed by these people, another is that he loathes couples and human realationships in general. While in the bar he bangs into many couples. He probably resents their love and a conection he has not found and in fact is jealous of. The man's darker side is revealed everytime he looks into a mirror, his reflection is deformed and monstrous showing a strong hate and repulsion for himself.
This a particuclaly interesting video for the track laid to rest. the video shows a man being chased by a hooded figure, the hooded figure and him are later shown to be the same person. This could be symbolic of many things including the saying "You are your worst enemy" etcetera
This is the single "farewell to the fairground" by white lies. the song talks of moving into adulthood and letting go of your child hood. the icy landscape and lack of human life show the lonliness andd struggle we all face growing up.
This is paint your target by fighstar. The video shows how society is brought up to be more vilent. This is shown through the childrens actions towards eachover andd the bullet like sparks that fly from their hands towards eachover. This is one of the many songs i may cover due to personell preference and popular theme.
